According to the American Council on Exercise, there is a need for “the integration of basic exercise science and nutrition. Successfully losing weight requires a multifaceted approach: sound nutrition, safe and effective physical activity, appropriate lifestyle changes and psychological and emotional support” (Brown. p ix. Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant Manual. 1996). We believe that this holds true – not only for weight loss – but for every complexity in weight management: weight loss, weight gain, or ideal weight maintenance.
